Instructional Planning
Toolkit
The instructional planning toolkit is designed to support instructional designers and educators in creating engaging and effective learning experiences. It includes four key components: 1) a framework for instructional design, 2) Bloom's Taxonomy Digital Learning Guide, 3) Gagne’s 9 Events of Instruction aligned with ISTE Standards for structured lesson development, and 4) Constructivist Pedagogies Planning Document
01
Instructional Planning
Framework
A framework serves as a foundational structure that guides the design and organization of instructional plans, ensuring all essential elements are included and aligned with learning goals. Generally, an instructional plan includes the following components: clear learning objectives that define what learners should achieve, instructional procedures outlining how the material will be delivered, activities learners will complete to reinforce their understanding, assessments of learning to measure progress, a timeline or schedule to structure procedures, activities, and assessments, and the resources needed to effectively meet the learning objectives. A strong framework provides a cohesive roadmap for successful teaching and learning.
02
Bloom's Taxonomy
Digital Learning Guide
The guide explores the application of Behaviorist Learning Theory with Bloom's Taxonomy in instructional planning, emphasizing its connection to digital learning. It highlights how instructors can align the taxonomy's cognitive levels with the ISTE Standards for Students, fostering roles and skills essential for learners in a digital society. By integrating these frameworks, the guide supports designing activities that promote critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration in technology-rich environments.
03
Gagne's 9 Events Instructional Planning Guide
Gagne’s 9 Events of Instruction provide a structured, cognitivist approach to lesson planning. When integrated with digital learning activities aligned to Bloom’s Taxonomy, these events create engaging and effective instruction. By incorporating digital learning into Gagne’s events, educators can create interactive, engaging lessons that build cognitive skills while fostering digital literacy. Each event supports learners in progressing through the cognitive levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy, with digital tools enhancing engagement and relevance.
04
Constructivists Pedagogies
Planning Document
The Constructivist Pedagogies Planning Guide emphasizes active, collaborative, and scaffolded learning experiences where students build knowledge through exploration and interaction. It provides educators with strategies to design hands-on activities, group projects, and real-world applications that foster engagement and critical thinking, empowering learners to take ownership of their educational journey.
